Our History

Wee Friends Preschool was started in the spring of 1975 with a three month trial.  It is now in its 35th year. The vision of Pastor Earl K. Ziegler, it was promoted by Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren member Marlene Eckman, who became the school's first lead teacher. The school is part of the Children's Outreach Ministries at the church.  It is operated by a Board of church members and a capable, dedicated staff of teachers and aides. The school has grown to a total possible enrollment of 136 children, most of whom come from the community outside the congregation. The school currently includes four classes for 4 to 5 year olds, four classes of 3 and 4 year olds and three classes for 2 to 3 year olds. Each year the church offers some partial financial scholarships to help families with special needs.
